Import an existing lab¶
Import adopts an existing EVE lab into Git intent. It does not deploy and it does not create a managed lab. It must never mutate source_lab.
This is not Pull from EVE (from_eve). Import is first adoption. from_eve refreshes an existing project from its managed lab.
Steps¶
- Connect. Sidebar → Import Lab.
- Pick the existing EVE source lab from the folder browser (type to filter, open a folder, or go up with
..). You can still enter a path by hand. - The extension writes Git files under
IaC/<name>/and records immutablesource.lab. - The marker records the later deploy target, typically
/IaC/<basename>.unl. That lab is not created until Deploy.
Labs with HTML workbooks (tasks of type: public) need agent 0.4.2-2 or later. Older agents fail import with cannot unmarshal string into Go struct field LabTask.id.
LOAD is different: see Load an existing lab. Load Lab attaches without owning topology. You can start/stop/wipe/console/inspect. You cannot deploy, reconcile, destroy, or restore presentation.
After import¶
- Treat
source_labas read-only forever. - Edit the Git project; apply later changes to the managed lab with Plan then Reconcile (not Deploy, except first-time or replace).
eve-presentation.ymlis baked into the UNL ZIP on a full IMPORT deploy/recreate. Ordinary reconcile does not replay visuals.
Next: Edit and validate.
